1. Intro to Rowing 2024

Fee: $120

Qualifications: No prior rowing experience; 13+ years of age 

Description: Three hours of on-water coaching of basic rowing technique and boat skills. Maximum of 2 participants in each session.  

Includes: One year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario ($60.84); use of personal flotation device and all required boat and safety equipment.

Progression: On completion of Intro to Rowing, rowers can join Learn to Row 1.

2. Junior Camp 2024

Fee: $200

Qualifications: For youth aged 13-17, no prior rowing experience required

Description: Five 4-hour on-water coached sessions (8 am - 12 noon or 1 pm - 5 pm).

Includes: Coaching of rowing stroke technique, water safety, boat handling, boat maintenance as well as small boat skills including in-water boat reentry, docking; introduction to sweep rowing, touring rowing and introduction to recreational racing. One year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario ($60.84); use of personal flotation device and all required boat and safety equipment.

Progression: On completion of Junior Camp rowers can join Learn to Row1

3. Learn to Row 1 2024

Fee: $160

Qualifications: Must have completed Intro to Rowing 2024 or Junior Camp 2024 (which covers the one year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario).

Description: On water coaching of rowing fundamentals for minimum of 2 sessions per week. Allocation to crew(s) and boat(s) for the duration of the on-water season (end of October, weather pending)

Includes: Coaching for further skills development in rowing technique, coxing boats, water safety, small boat skills (including in-water boat re-entry and docking), boat handling, boat maintenance; opportunity to row touring and sweep boats will be offered pending scheduling and resource availability; use of personal flotation device and all required boat and safety equipment.

Progression: On completion of Learn to Row 1, rowers can join Learn to Row 2 the following year.

4. Learn to Row 2-3 2024

Fee: $220

Qualifications: For rowers with 1 or 2 years’ experience rowing at Sudbury Rowing Club.

Description: On-water coaching a minimum of 2 sessions per week. Allocation to crew(s) and boat(s) for the duration of the on-water season (end of October, weather pending).

Includes: Coaching for further skills development in rowing technique, water safety, small boat skills (including in-water boat reentry and docking), boat handling, boat maintenance; introduction to sweep rowing, touring rowing, recreational competition. One year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario ($60.84); use of personal flotation device and all required boat and safety equipment.

Progression: On completion of Learn to Row 3 rowers can join Adult or Junior Member the following year.

5. Adult Member 2024
Fee: $360 
Qualifications: For rowers 18+ years with over 3 years’ demonstrated experience rowing at Sudbury Rowing Club
Description: A minimum of 2 sessions per week for the duration of the on-water season (approximately middle of May to end of October, weather pending).
Includes: Use of all required boat and safety equipment for duration of season as per boat allocation process of the club, and assistance with boat handling and on-water support (skills and tips) that will be available at specified times. Adult members will have access to SRC personal flotation devices, however are encouraged to purchase their own for personal use. One year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario.

6. Junior Member 2024

Qualifications: For rowers 17 and under years of age with over 3 years’ rowing experience at Sudbury Rowing Club.
Description: A minimum of 2 sessions per week for the duration of the on-water season (approximately middle of May to end of October, weather pending).
Includes: Use of Sudbury Rowing Club boat and safety equipment, including personal flotation device, as allocated per coach and boat allocation process of the club. One year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario ($60.84).

7. Adaptive Member 2024
Fee: $130
Description: For para and adaptive rowers of all skill levels and rowing experience. On water coaching a minimum of 1 session per week for the duration of the on-water season (approximately middle of May to end of October, weather pending).
Includes: Use of required boat and safety equipment for duration of season as allocated by the coach; rowing stroke technique, water safety, boat handling, boat maintenance as well as small boat skills (e.g. in-water boat reentry, docking); introduction to sweep rowing, touring rowing and introduction to recreational racing. One year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario ($60.84).

8. Club Coxswain 2024

Fee: $60.84*

Description: For persons 13+ years wanting to participate only as a coxswain. No rowing experience required. Coxing on water a minimum one session per week.

Includes: Two sessions on-water rowing technique, on-water coaching of coxswain rowing commands, boat handling, water safety, rowing drills, docking skills, crew roles; dryland boat knowledge to include maintenance, moving in and out of boathouse, moving boats to and from dock. Use of safety (including PFD) and relevant coxswain equipment. *Covers one year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario ($60.84).

B. Laurentian U. /SRC Novice Camp Fall 2024
Fee: $140 
Description: For anyone who has never rowed or who has not competed in a sanctioned regatta. Camp dates: late August – early September 2024
Includes: On water coaching of rowing technique and boat skills; Use of boats, safety equipment, and ergometers as allocated by LU coaches. One year membership with Sudbury Rowing Club and one year membership and insurance coverage with Rowing Canada and Row Ontario ($60.84).
On completion of Laurentian/SRC Novice Camp, crew and boat selection will be made by Laurentian Coaches and selected rowers will be invited to row for the duration of the university rowing season in the LU/SRC Novice category.  
Not Included: Additional fees will be required to cover regatta accommodation, transportation, food and rowing clothing. Fee anticipated to be $550

C. Laurentian Varsity Camp Fall 2024
Fee: $140. (Rowers not registered in 2024 with a registered rowing club will pay an additional $60.84 to SRC for required one-year membership and insurance with SRC, Rowing Canada and Row Ontario)
Description: For experienced rowers or rowers who have competed in a sanctioned regatta. Tentative Camp dates: late August – early September 2024.
Includes: On water coaching of rowing technique and boat skills; Use of boats, safety equipment, and ergometers as allocated by LU coaches. Includes participation in clinics as offered by Laurentian University for potential varsity Athletes.
On completion of Laurentian Varsity Camp, crew and boat selection will be made by Laurentian Coaches and selected rowers will be invited to row in Varsity events for the duration of the university rowing season.

D. Laurentian U. /SRC Novice Athlete Fall 2024
Tentative Fee: $550
Description: For selected rowers as per Laurentian /SRC team selection.
Includes: On water rowing expected 8 hours a week plus additional 8-12 hours training and team activities. Athletes to expect mornings as well as weekend time to be allocated to training.
Not Included: Laurentian University Athletic fee (approximately $160, payable by athlete to Laurentian University). Additional fees to cover regatta accommodation, transportation, food and rowing clothing and seat fees.

E. Laurentian University Varsity Athlete Fall 2024
