This program is for experienced rowers who have a sound knowledge of our PRC rowing course and who do not desire or require coaching. Members in this program may row from the beginning of spring season until the end of fall season, obeying ALL club rules, in particular cold water and swift water rules. Members are required to receive permission from the season’s senior coach or coordinator to use any Club equipment. Water priority is given to competitive programs during spring, summer and fall periods causing Club Rowing members use of facilities to be restricted during these times. This membership must be approved by the senior coach or coordinator. It allows members who don’t live in the Peterborough area to access up to 12 on-water training sessions a year and if they wish to compete as part of PRC crews. Regatta seat fees and transportation will be collected. Cost for transportation of boats to regattas is a $25 flat fee plus regatta entries costs. Athletes will follow a rigorous training program dedicating themselves to competing at provincial and national level competitions as restrictions allow. Athletes may be invited to or declare interest in joining a program. Participation must be approved by the Program Coordinator. Team and crew selection is the responsibility of the coaches for each program. The fall/winter season runs from August 25th, 2026 to March 31st, 2027, and allows access to all on and off-water activities run by the Club throughout this period. This includes 3 fall regattas (Muskoka Classic, Head of the Rideau and Head of the Trent). There is limited on-water coaching from PRC in the fall, as priority for coaching and equipment goes to Trent University crews. Winter programs are available with team training typically occurring at the Trent Athletic Centre (TAC). PRC members are required to purchase a TAC membership which is offered at a discounted price. The Rowing league is for both Junior and Adult athletes. Programming and communication will be separated accordingly after registration. Athletes will develop skills over the summer season with sights on fun and the option to participate in local competitive opportunities including club time trails, skills competitions, and head racing as restrictions allow. On and off water coaching will be provided, and individuals will learn the fundamentals of equipment use and care. Selection of boats and boating combinations are entirely under the direction of the engaged coaching staff. The League membership is a Spring/ summer program: Session runs from May 19th to August 22nd. Tuesday and Thursday 6-8 pm; Saturday 9:30 to 11:30 am. Coaching will not be available on two weekends in July and the week of August 3rd to 10th as coaches are away at regattas. Permission to row independently at these times is at the discretion of the Recreational Program Lead and Club Head Coach. To continue rowing past August 22nd, 2026, a Fall/winter Competitive Membership or a Club Membership must be purchased with the rules of those programs applying, to account for the use of club equipment and resources and taking into consideration the equipment and coaching priorities go to Trent University in the fall. Those who have not previously participated in a rowing program must first participate in at least one Learn to Row and/or one Return to Row program prior to participating in the Rowing League.
