2026 Adult Learn to Row: Level 1 2026-04-01 2026-10-31

Learn to Row Level 1 course is designed for the beginner adult.  It is an introduction to the sport by learning sweep rowing in an 8-man shell. We teach you the essentials such as handling the equipment, following standard rowing commands, learning techniques on land with the ergs and dockside rower as well as experiencing the on-water rowing with your crew. We hope that you have fun and enjoy rowing at VRC!

2026 Adult Learn to Row: Level 2 2026-04-01 2026-10-31

Learn to Row Level 2 is the next step after completing Level 1 and introduces participants to sculling in a four-person shell.

In this course, you'll build on the skills learned in Level 1 while developing the fundamentals of sculling. You'll learn how to safely handle rowing equipment, follow standard rowing commands, and refine your technique through land-based training on the rowing ergometers and dockside rowing simulator before taking your skills onto the water with your crew.

Intermediate Program Adult 2025/2026 2026-04-01 2026-09-30

The Intermediate Program is open to adult rowers who have completed Novice. The program is also accepting of experienced rowers who may have been away from the sport for a while and looking to take steps to come back to rowing. Intermediate program rowers will join the masters program in the spring.

Rowing Program for ages 12 to under 19 years.  Must be approved for entry.  There will be three categories the junior program: development, intermediate and competitive.  Development athletes will pay the base fee, and intermediate/competitive athletes will pay the base amount plus an "additional coaching" amount.   All costs associated with regattas, special training sessions and camps are additional.
Training times vary depending on athlete but could include: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:00-6:00pm, and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 am-12:00pm
Fees are not payable through the Rowing Canada website.  Please contact the VRC office for assistance with fees.

Many athletes also do extra practices at other times, both on the water and on land.  Practice sessions are currently held:  Saturday 8:00 a.m.  Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m.
