As they grow stronger physically, athletes will learn principles and values that come from experience. Experience that is part of the day-to-day training rowers do in order to succeed in the ultimate team sport. Benefits, like discipline, commitment, teamwork and many more are gained as the athletes grow as rowers and as people. They will make lifelong friends and learn lessons that will follow them always. All part of the incredible adventure called rowing. Training will include both sculling and sweep boats. Fall Schedule Mon – Fri 3:00 – 5:30 PM (all athletes) Mon – Fri 5:30 PM – night fall (make up row) Saturday 7:00 - 9:30 AM (all athletes) Sunday 9:00 - 11:30 AM OFF OR MAKE UP Athletes will be required to be present before their on water time to help with equipment preparations and to do on land warm up. This program is designed for high school athletes who have not been on the water or feel they are not ready for the competitive programs. This program is introductory in nature and will give athletes a chance to experience rowing and decide if it is something they may choose to pursue. It is a great way to have fun and make friends while they are getting fit. The program teaches beginners the fundamentals of rowing. Focusing on rowing technique, boat handling, water safety, rowing terminology, and crew coordination. Attendance is flexible. Athletes may come to as many or as few practices as they wish. This is your choice. The more you do rowing, the faster you develop. It is coached by experienced coaches with a focus on athlete development. It is a positive, patient and safe environment with a goal of developing athletes to the point they can join the competitive high school or club programs as soon as they are ready. Mon – Fri 5:30 - 7:00 AM or 5:30 - 8:00 PM (June 8 – June 26) Mon – Fri 5:30 - 8:00 AM or 8:30 - 11:00 AM or 5:30 - 8:00 PM (June 29 – August 1) Sat 9:00 – 11:30 AM (June 8 – August 1) Sun 9:00 - 11:30 AM OFF OR MAKE UP (June 8 – August 1) August 2 – August 9 Henley Week (Henley practice crews only) August 10 – August 28 MAINTENANCE ROWING (12 – 14 km) Mon – Fri 8:30 - 11:00 AM or 5:30 - 8:00 PM No weekend rowing.
